The Hopkins baseball team swept the Franklin and Marshall (F&M) College Diplomats in a doubleheader at home on April 16. The Blue Jays trailed in the bottom of the sixth inning 6-3; however, junior left fielder Matthew Cooper hit a monster home run to gain the team’s winning point with a final score of 7-6.

Home to the Baltimore Orioles, Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a hotspot for many, and as summer begins to roll in, spending an afternoon watching a baseball game is a great way to relax and spend time with friends.
Hopkins men’s lacrosse faced off against the Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions on the stormy Saturday evening of April 16. The Blue Jays proved too much for Penn State, recording a 13-10 victory for their second win in the Big Ten.
Women’s lacrosse went head-to-head against the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers for the first time ever on April 10. The Jays proved to be too much for the Chanticleers, cruising to a 16-8 victory.
Graduate student Annie Gutierrez finished off a successful two weeks with a new personal record (PR) in the 400-meter hurdles with a national top-30 time of 1:05.87 at the Mason Spring Invitational this past weekend. She also broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.57 at the Towson Invitational, ranking third in program history.

In the past two years, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) were pretty straightforward for most fans, reporters and voters alike.

Hopkins men’s tennis defeated the 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University Tartans 5-4 on April 3, with sophomore Thomas Yu clinching the match with a dominant win at first singles.
Women’s lacrosse faced off against the eighth-ranked University of Maryland Terrapins last Saturday. Hopkins entered the game ranked 20th in the nation with a 6-5 record.
Junior Sachin Mehta capped off a successful junior campaign at the NCAA Championships this past weekend. Among Division-I competition, the junior sabrist placed 21st, the best finish in this discipline at the NCAA Championships by a Hopkins fencer since 1980.

This past offseason, Tripp Myers was working on his swing in batting practice. It was nothing out of the ordinary for his routine, but he went through a stretch, as every baseball player does, where he was struggling to hit the ball as hitting coach Adam Schlenoff advised Myers to simplify his swing.
After another busy week of back-to-back games, the Hopkins Blue Jays now hold a record of 5-3, losing two of the three games played over the weekend and winning one later on in the week. Over the weekend, two of those games were against the University of Southern Maine Huskies, where each team took a win. The Jays then fell 0-3 to the eighth-ranked Salisbury University Sea Gulls.
