This weekend, the Hopkins men’s soccer team trekked up to Lancaster, Pa. to compete in the Centennial Conference tournament at Franklin and Marshall (F&M) College. The Jays entered the tournament off of a second-place finish in the Conference during the regular season and with a No. 3 ranking from the United Soccer Coaches poll.
The men’s water polo team traveled to Springfield, Va. to play a pair of games this past weekend. On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Blue Jays took on the George Washington University Colonials, and on Sunday, Nov. 3, they played against the Bucknell University Bison. Both teams were 17-7 heading into the games, while Hopkins had accumulated a 9-17 record before the weekend.
The third-ranked Hopkins men’s soccer team stormed their way to a 4-1 comeback victory over the Dickinson College Red Devils in the regular season finale for both teams. The Blue Jays finished the season with a 14-2-1 record, going 7-1-1 in the Centennial Conference.
On a day that celebrated the Hopkins women’s soccer team’s eight seniors, the No. 5 Blue Jays battled the Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats, where a Hopkins victory would clinch a berth in the Centennial Conference tournament.
Before I start, I have to talk about Lamar Jackson, the quarterback. He is not like Tim Tebow. He’s not a gimmick, not some wide receiver playing wildcat. He is leading one of the best offenses in the league, and he just made New England’s number one ranked defense look slow and undisciplined.
The Hopkins volleyball team went into the final game of the season this past Saturday with a lot on the line. They hosted the Franklin and Marshall (F&M) College Diplomats in a matchup that would decide who received the rights to host the Conference tournament.
Kyrie Irving is good. Really good. He has crafty handles, a smooth jump shot and the clutch gene, and he’s undoubtedly one of the best point guards in the league. At the age of 27, just the start of his prime, Irving already has the accomplishments of a Hall of Fame career: a National Basketball Association (NBA) championship, two gold medals in international play, alongside multiple all-NBA and All Star selections.
This past weekend, the Hopkins men’s soccer team took on the Dickinson College Red Devils at Homewood Field. Though the Red Devils managed to score the first goal, that would prove to be all that the Jays would allow. Hopkins would go on to send a flurry of shots to the net, four of which made it past the Dickinson goalie in order to close the game with an impressive win by a score of 4-1.
The Hopkins Blue Jays scored in every single quarter against the visiting Gettysburg College Bullets last Friday, taking a 14-0 lead within the first five minutes of play. The Blue Jays never relinquished that lead, pouring on 48 points by the time Gettysburg was able to get on the board late into the fourth quarter.
Twenty-five. Twenty-five wins in a row for Hopkins Volleyball. There are only three instances of a Hopkins team with a longer win streak: 2004 Baseball (33), 2010 Baseball (32) and 1932-1934 Men’s lacrosse (26).
This past Saturday, the women’s soccer team traveled to Collegeville, Pa. to face off against the Ursinus College Bears, bringing a modest three game win streak with them. For all three of these victories, the final result was decided by one goal, and the Jays looked to bring this resilience with them on the road.
The 2019-2020 NCAA basketball season will begin this Tuesday, Nov. 5. Over 100 games will be played that day, including No. 1 Michigan State against No. 2 Kentucky and No. 3 Kansas against No. 4 Duke. This is the first time ever that the one, two, three and four seeds will play each other in this way on the first day of games.
The men’s soccer team was victorious once again. This time the No. 5 ranked Blue Jays defeated the Ursinus College Bears 2-0 on Saturday at Patterson Field in Collegeville, Pa. The Jays are now 12-2-1 on the year, with a 5-1-1 record in the Centennial Conference.
Harrison Wellmann is a sophomore wide receiver from College Station, Texas. Last Friday, Wellmann had a standout performance against the Gettysburg College Bullets that earned him Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Hopkins swimming faced tough Division-I competition this weekend in Annapolis, Md. and Newark, Del., but they proved that they were more than up for the challenge.
This Saturday, the Blue Jays men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Logan Township, N.J., to compete in the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle. The race is called the “Border Battle” because Logan Township sits right at the borders of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Last year at this competition, the Blue Jays men’s and women’s teams both won first place. This race was the last regular season race of the year for the teams, as they will now be looking towards the Centennial Conference Championship in November. Last year’s performance was a tough act to follow, but the Blue Jays didn’t back down from the challenge.
A tumultuous summer in the NBA has come to an end, framed by a slew of paradigm shifting free agent signings and a full-blown international incident involving Chinese business relations and the ongoing Hong Kong protests.
This past weekend, on a brisk Baltimore evening, the No. 10 ranked Blue Jays took on the visiting Swarthmore College Garnet in field hockey action.
The Hopkins women’s soccer team went into their matchup with the Swarthmore College Garnet this past Saturday looking to increase their winning streak to three games. After a rather frustrating stretch of games comprised of three straight ties, they managed to string together consecutive wins against the Muhlenberg College Mules and the McDaniel College green terrors.
The men’s cross country team took home second place this weekend at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle. Leading the way for the Blue Jays was Jared Pangallozzi, who finished only two seconds behind the first-place runner. He has finished as one of the top-two Hopkins runners in every race this year.
