The Hopkins Blue Jays scored in every single quarter against the visiting Gettysburg College Bullets last Friday, taking a 14-0 lead within the first five minutes of play. The Blue Jays never relinquished that lead, pouring on 48 points by the time Gettysburg was able to get on the board late into the fourth quarter.
Twenty-five. Twenty-five wins in a row for Hopkins Volleyball. There are only three instances of a Hopkins team with a longer win streak: 2004 Baseball (33), 2010 Baseball (32) and 1932-1934 Men’s lacrosse (26).
This past Saturday, the women’s soccer team traveled to Collegeville, Pa. to face off against the Ursinus College Bears, bringing a modest three game win streak with them. For all three of these victories, the final result was decided by one goal, and the Jays looked to bring this resilience with them on the road.
The 2019-2020 NCAA basketball season will begin this Tuesday, Nov. 5. Over 100 games will be played that day, including No. 1 Michigan State against No. 2 Kentucky and No. 3 Kansas against No. 4 Duke. This is the first time ever that the one, two, three and four seeds will play each other in this way on the first day of games.
The men’s soccer team was victorious once again. This time the No. 5 ranked Blue Jays defeated the Ursinus College Bears 2-0 on Saturday at Patterson Field in Collegeville, Pa. The Jays are now 12-2-1 on the year, with a 5-1-1 record in the Centennial Conference.
Harrison Wellmann is a sophomore wide receiver from College Station, Texas. Last Friday, Wellmann had a standout performance against the Gettysburg College Bullets that earned him Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Hopkins swimming faced tough Division-I competition this weekend in Annapolis, Md. and Newark, Del., but they proved that they were more than up for the challenge.
This Saturday, the Blue Jays men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Logan Township, N.J., to compete in the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle. The race is called the “Border Battle” because Logan Township sits right at the borders of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Last year at this competition, the Blue Jays men’s and women’s teams both won first place. This race was the last regular season race of the year for the teams, as they will now be looking towards the Centennial Conference Championship in November. Last year’s performance was a tough act to follow, but the Blue Jays didn’t back down from the challenge.

After a rather frustrating stretch of games comprised of three straight ties, they managed to string together consecutive wins against the Muhlenberg College Mules and the McDaniel College green terrors.
The men’s cross country team took home second place this weekend at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle. Leading the way for the Blue Jays was Jared Pangallozzi, who finished only two seconds behind the first-place runner. He has finished as one of the top-two Hopkins runners in every race this year.
While the first day of winter may not be almost two months away, the 31 teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) are already playing in the snow. Just about three weeks into the 2019-2020 campaign, several teams have already impressed and appear to be major contenders for this year’s Stanley Cup.
The seventh-ranked Hopkins men’s soccer team went up against the Swarthmore College Garnet this Saturday in what would prove to be a tight game between the Centennial Conference rivals. The game took place on Homewood Field.
On Saturday morning, the Hopkins volleyball team was 18-0. These 18 straight victories were tied for the longest winning streak in Hopkins volleyball history. The 2017 team had also reached eighteen in a row, but that number had never been surpassed. With two games that weekend, the team had a chance to cement themselves in Hopkins history. Both games took place at the University’s own Goldfarb Gymnasium.

There’s been a significantly large number of home runs over the past couple of years. The five teams with the most home runs are: 2019 Twins, 2019 Yankees, 2019 Astros, 2019 Dodgers and the 2018 Yankees. Even accounting for the newer Yankee Stadium’s shorter field, this list is very obviously skewed toward today’s teams, especially considering the record before the 2018 Yankees was set in 1997.
This Saturday the Hopkins field hockey team tacked yet another win onto their record by defeating the Muhlenburg College Mules 4-1 at Homewood Field. Sophomore midfielder Abby Birk was a driving force behind the Jays’ victory, scoring two goals and one assist over the course of the match.
The date is Oct. 4, 2019. The NBA season is only weeks away from starting. All is going seemingly well for the Houston Rockets. Most Valuable Player James Harden is back for what should be another strong season, and he is joined by former teammate and previous MVP Russell Westbrook, as well as returning role players such as Clint Capela and P.J. Tucker.
This past Saturday the Hopkins football team narrowly escaped the Ursinus College Bears, who were ultimately edged out by the Blue Jays 32-29. This was Hopkins’ third straight win, bringing them to an overall record of 4-1 and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins survived a late-game surge by the Bears, who scored 16 points in the fourth quarter in an ultimately futile attempt to take the lead.
