Top teams in basketball vie for March Madness glory

The college basketball regular season ended on March 8 and with it came the final Associated Press (AP) rankings before Selection Sunday. While the results of conference tournament play will factor into the seeding, I’ll take a look at the projected one and two seeds from the AP rankings and discuss their chances in this year’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship Tournament.

The 2019-2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) season has been a complicated ride for the Los Angeles Lakers in terms of media perception. After the historic franchise, who had not been to the playoffs since the 2012-2013 season, traded for center Anthony Davis, the media predictions began to rain in.

New NFL collective bargaining agreement disappoints fans

The National Football League (NFL) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is a once-every-10-years agreement between the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) and the NFL teams’ owners. To ratify the CBA, the NFLPA and the NFL work on a deal and then send it to the entirety of the players in the league for a simple majority vote.

The Hopkins men’s basketball team entered the Centennial Conference Championship game with one thing on their mind: revenge. The Jays were set to square off against the undefeated, No. 1-ranked Swarthmore College Garnet, who defeated the Jays twice already this season.

Although I don’t know much about professional sports, I have enough L.A. pride to know that LeBron James has had an incredible impact on the world of basketball. Aside from the fame and impressive salary, being regarded as one of the world’s best players comes with a certain amount of social responsibility.

Baseball ended the weekend with two strong wins after a difficult start.

Baseball goes 2-1 over weekend as it hosts Baltimore Invitational

The Hopkins baseball team had a busy weekend on the turf of Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium this weekend, hosting the Baltimore Invitational. The Blue Jays continued the start of their 2020 campaign with a slate of games against the Marietta College Pioneers, the State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland Dragons and the Roanoke College Maroons.

Both T&F teams succeed at Centennial Conferences

The men’s and women’s track teams may be running out of milestones to achieve. This weekend, the women’s team won its 10th consecutive Centennial Conference Championship while the men won their eighth straight.

Athlete of the Week: Matthew Su

The Hopkins men’s track team continued its historic run this past weekend by clinching its eighth straight Centennial Conference indoor championship. The Jays traveled to Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. and took no prisoners on their way to the top of the podium.

Men’s Basketball finishes season with a win against Haverford

For the last game of the regular season, the men’s basketball team faced off against the Haverford Fords at home on Saturday, Feb. 22. Entering the game 21-3, Hopkins was looking to grab another win before heading into the postseason. The last time these two teams played was on Jan. 25 when sophomore guard Ethan Bartlett hit the game-winning shot in the last few seconds.

The accusations against them, generally consisting of claims that City had committed significant financial improprieties and, in particular, arguing that the owners had illicitly funneled extra funds into their team through a shell sponsor, were unprecedented in the modern game

Women’s Basketball finishes off with a huge win

The Hopkins women’s basketball team entered their final game of the season with a chance to solidify their spot in the Centennial Conference tournament this past Saturday. They hosted the Haverford College Fords, who entered the match-up atop the Conference standings, with the option to finish as high as third in the regular season rankings.

This year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) off-season saw a series of significant stories leading up to the start of spring training. The Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal was the story of the off-season.

Swim teams beat records at Blue Jay Invitational

In the final home meet for the nine seniors on the Hopkins swimming team, the Jays made plenty of history in their last outing before the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships. After a weekend filled with numerous impressive performances, nine pool records fell at the Blue Jay Invitational.

This week the No. 10 Hopkins men’s basketball team took on the Haverford College Fords at Goldfarb Gymnasium for their last conference game of the season. The Jays pulled off a 75-56 win, adding yet another tally to the win column of their now 22-3 record.
