From talking with people who have seen neither Grimm nor Once Upon a Time (OuaT), there seems to be a common misconception that Grimm, NBC's new mishmash of dark fantasy and cop procedural, is the same thing or extremely similar to OuaT.

Have you ever had one of your parents sit you down and tell you a story that you don't really care about and never actually asked to hear about in the first place? Do you remember how convoluted it was, and how much your parent rambled until you were ready to run away screaming? Well, no matter how bad you've had it, unless your parent has been telling you their story for seven consecutive years, I can guarantee that Ted Mosby's kids on How I Met Your Mother have had it worse.

Is it just me or is there a plethora of media having to do with fairy tales these days? In film, there are two Snow White movies coming out, and, in TV, there's Grimm and of course, Once Upon a Time.

If you think you know Sherlock Holmes and his brilliant partner John Watson, think again, because you don't know Sherlock until you've seen Steven Moffat's modern adaption to television. Not that there's anything wrong with Doyle's work. Far from it, in fact. It's only that there's something inherently charming about Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), a self-proclaimed "high-functioning sociopath" running around modern-day London and managing to piss off every single person he meets. And we can't forget John Watson (Martin Freeman), Sherlock's loyal partner.

J. Lyndon Hickman’s The Years of Magic is an odd book with bigger ambitions than what most stories try to achieve. It is a blend of different genres and has a rather large cast of characters, feeling like an ensemble piece. Unfortunately, like other overly large masses, the book eventually falls under its own weight. It is still an entertaining experience to see though, even if it did not live up to expectations.

Metal comes with a certain reputation. Angry. Hateful. Loud. Noisy. Luckily, Amon Amarth does everything they can to refute claims like that. The strongest emotion, strangely enough, permeating through the band, the audience and the music, is love. They love their music, love their fans, love their bandmates and love performing. The concert itself, though, was not typical. There were no opening acts, no long set switches, no headliners stepping on stage. This was, literally, an Evening with Amon Amarth.

As college freshmen, we counted the days until our exams were over, until the stress of earning actual grades ended. And then we moved out of our dorms, and went home, with the freedom to finally do absolutely nothing. But somehow, it just doesn’t feel the same as it did when we were 10.

The double-feature headlining show of Yellowcard-Good Charlotte was a blast from our collective misunderstood, middle-school past. Which is not to say that it was an unfulfilling experience. Not at all. Most of the concert attendees left Rams Head Live! with that secret, shameless part of our soul satiated.

When it comes to live music, Baltimore has got a lot of venues, and Rams Head Live is one of the stranger ones. When a big name comes to town, like Joanna Newsom or Passion Pit, it’s not unusual for them to headline a show at Rams Head.
