Last Thursday through Saturday, nearly 15 Hopkins students participated in the $2/Day Challenge, a social experiment organized by members of the Women's Pre-Health Leadership Society (WPHLS) to give students an idea of what it is like to be homeless.

Our field hockey squad travelled to Swarthmore last weekend to face off against the Garnet. The Jays rallied late but were unable to overcome to deficit as the Swarthmore women held them off to win 3-2.

Hopkins water polo played three nail-biters this past weekend, beating 13th-ranked Princeton 11-10 with a last second goal, 19th-ranked Bucknell 11-9 in double overtime at home before traveling to George Washington on Saturday night, falling 14-13.

Hopkins men's soccer played two games this past week, both Centennial Conference affairs. On Friday, the Blue Jays defeated Muhlenberg at home, 1-0, before beginning a four-game road trip at Gettysburg on Tuesday where Hopkins mustered a scoreless tie. The black and blue now stand at 4-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the Centennial action.

The Midnight Breakfast was held this past Saturday as a part of Fall Fest, and attracted a sizable crowd of at least 700 undergraduates and young alumni.

Members of the Hopkins community are familiar with travel. Many people on the Homewood Campus can share their eye-opening experiences of visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, coming nose-to-nose with poverty in India, or being in close proximity to the London Riots. These experiences inspire new perspectives and ideas.

Hopkins's annual Fall Fest drew consistent crowds to its events this past weekend, despite inclement weather. Due to expected downpours this past Friday and Saturday, a number of events, including the Culture Block Party and the football tailgate, were cancelled and several outdoor events were relocated indoors. However, Fall Fest organizers reported that turnout this year was comparable to that of last year's, which did not face any inclement weather.

Nearly 60 students participated in Fall Fest's FUN-damentals of Weaving put on by Homewood Museum this weekend. The event was organized by Abi Knipsher, the museum‘s visitor services coordinator.

It's easy to get lost and, perhaps, sufficiently creeped out in the basement of Krieger Hall. Its lights are dim, its hallways narrow and misleading. Exposed piping is not yet passé.

When faced with the task of wading through the many volunteer organizations present at Hopkins, one might find their feet to be a bit too deep in the mud to even begin to think of where to start. Fortunate as we are to have this problem rather than the alternative, the difficulty of the choice remains.

The Ron Daniels Presidential 2.5K Fun Run, the closing event of the Fall Fest 2011, took place this past Sunday morning. By the 9 a.m. race time, nearly 30 participants, the standard turnout according to President Ronald Daniels, were waiting on the starting line ready to race through the Homewood campus side by side with Daniels.

The men's and women's cross country teams journeyed to the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational last weekend. Both teams took first place in the 8K and placed in the top three overall.

In true Hopkins fashion, the Ralph S. O'Connor Rec Center was largely abandoned in favor of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library, despite the enticement of cheap Far East Movement tickets.
