A recent FBI investigation into the NCAA and its basketball coaches produced alleged evidence of Arizona University Wildcats coach Sean Miller discussing payment for star freshman forward DeAndre Ayton to land at the school.

This past weekend, the Hopkins baseball team took on Rutgers-Camden and Cortland State in the Baltimore Invitational. Despite a tough 11-2 loss to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, the Jays triumphed the following day against the No. 1 team in the country, the Cortland State Red Dragons.

This past weekend, the men’s and women’s track teams had a historical performance at the Centennial Conference Championships. Hosted by Ursinus College, the Blue Jays headed to Collegeville, P.A. to defend their indoor Conference titles.

Six years of progress came to a devastating end when the U.S. Men’s National Team lost 2-1 against Trinidad and Tobago in the final qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup. The team only needed a draw, but their loss, coupled with Panama and Honduras winning their final games, meant that the U.S. will not be going to the World Cup in 2018.

This past weekend, the Hopkins baseball team hosted the St. John Fisher Cardinals in a season-opening doubleheader. The Jays would finish the day with a 1-1 record, defeating St. John Fisher 7-1 in the first game before losing to the Cardinals 10-4 in the second.

After their comeback victory last Tuesday night against the Ursinus College Bears, the Hopkins women’s basketball team carried their first-round momentum into the next three days of training. Despite fighting mental fatigue and physical injuries throughout the week, the Blue Jays felt prepared going into their matchup against the first-seeded Gettysburg College Bullets Friday night. The Jays were especially motivated to take down the Bullets after their season-ending loss to them in the Tournament last year.

If you have been following the Winter Olympics closely, you might have noticed the strange name that Russian athletes are being called by announcers and broadcasters. Instead of competing as representatives of the Russian Federation, these athletes are competing under the name “Olympic Athletes from Russia.” This is definitely a bit strange, but there is a tremendous scandal lying underneath the surface.

Tuesday night, the women’s basketball team began their playoff run with the hope of extending their three-game winning streak to end the regular season. Hosting their the play-in game, the Jays took on the fifth-ranked Ursinus College Bears in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament.

This past weekend, the women’s fencing team hosted the 2018 Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Championship (EWFC) in Goldfarb Gym, taking second place in the team championship behind only the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks. The Blue Jays ended their day 6-1, their only loss coming from a close 13-14 matchup against the Ducks.

The Hopkins women’s basketball team picked up two wins against the Washington College Shorewomen and the Bryn Mawr College Owls this past week to finish out the regular season. Both of these games were won by two strong, balanced offensive and defensive efforts. The Jays scored over 60 points in each game and held their opponents to under 50.

In the 52nd edition of the Battle of Charles Street, the visiting ninth-ranked Hopkins men’s lacrosse team was unable to repeat the magic from last year’s overtime victory. Falling for the seventh time in the rivalry’s history, the Blue Jays were taken down by the No. 14 Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds 12-5.

The Hopkins men’s basketball team won a thriller on Saturday in their last regular season game in Goldfarb Gym. They upset the 11th-ranked Swarthmore College Garnet 93-91 in double overtime. The weekend victory marked their second double-overtime win against a ranked opponent of the week.

This past weekend, the Hopkins wrestling team headed to Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va. for the annual Centennial Conference Championship. The Blue Jays placed fifth overall, behind solid performances from junior Isaac Morales, junior Ricky Cavallo and freshman Dominick Reyes.
