With just under a week remaining in the regular season, the time has come to make selections for the league’s most prestigious awards. Last year, I gave my opinion on those who were the most deserving candidates for each award, noting that it was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make.

The Lamar Jackson contract discussion has recently stooped down to the level of gossip at the high school lunch table. It’s never a pretty sight when your franchise quarterback is put on an exclusive tag — which the Baltimore Ravens enacted on March 7 — but it’s an even worse look when your franchise quarterback has to get on Twitter to dispel falsely reported contract numbers.

As we get closer to NFL free agency, many teams made big moves before the March 15 deadline. The San Francisco 49ers are no exception. Having lost many valuable players like offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (or the Aaron Donald equalizer) and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to the Tennessee Titans, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to the Detroit Lions and offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey to the Denver Broncos, the front office has a lot of pressure to replace these lost pieces.

Most of the world was asleep at 1:30 a.m EST on Feb. 9. Little did they know that one of the biggest superstars in NBA history was about to be traded. In the early hours of the morning, the Brooklyn Nets traded forward Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns.

The nicest house on the block is on the market. It’s the perfect addition, with everything from granite countertops to a backyard pool. There’s no denying its appeal, but it sits on the market for over two years as the family patiently waits for someone to hit its lofty price. This trade deadline, the family finally got an offer they accepted. After over two years of trade rumors and a reported asking price of somewhere between two and three first-round picks or assets, the Arizona Coyotes have finally traded Jakob Chychrun.

In late January, the Milwaukee Bucks were sitting at fourth place in the Eastern Conference and were only one game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the fifth seed in the conference. A team like Milwaukee is used to finishing first or second in the conference and being legitimate championship contenders every year, so many were questioning whether the writing was on the wall for the Bucks this season.

On Feb. 24, the Los Angeles Rams released star linebacker Bobby Wagner, and many NFL insiders have reported that all-pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey will soon be traded. The cause of these moves is not public info — it is plausible both players were looking for another change after the Rams’ 5–12 season, a stark contrast with their Super Bowl run just one season before. Most likely, however, both of these moves are tied to the Rams’ cap space.

As the confetti fell at the end of Super Bowl LVII, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid marveled at the resilience of his team and coaching staff. Among them was his offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, who he made sure to credit for his outstanding effort. Reid’s praise of Bieniemy rings loudly in hindsight as he and Reid both did a masterful job at exploiting the Philadelphia Eagles' defense.

When Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Nets star Kyrie Irving wanted out of Brooklyn on Friday, Feb. 3, nobody should have been surprised. Since hitting arguably the most iconic shot in recent history, Irving’s career path has been predictably unpredictable.

This Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 PM, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will head to Glendale, Arizona to face off in Super Bowl LVII. While the Chiefs last played in the Super Bowl in 2021, this is the Eagles’ first visit to the Super Bowl in five years.

On Feb. 1, Tom Brady announced in an Instagram video filmed on the beach that he was retiring from the National Football League (NFL) after 23 seasons, and this time for good. This announcement came exactly one year after Brady originally announced his retirement, only to return to the game less than two months later.

More than halfway through the 2023 NBA season, there has been a lot of chatter surrounding Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić’s current Most Valuable Player (MVP) campaign. After last weekend’s defeat to the 76ers center and MVP runner-up Joel Embiid, the MVP narrative has begun to shift away from Jokić and towards other candidates.

20 wins in just 25 games, featuring a 13-game win streak. The most points (41) of any team in the National Hockey League (NHL). Unquantifiable resilience and swagger. However it’s phrased, the New Jersey Devils are taking the league by storm, playing at a ridiculous (and almost certainly unsustainable) 134-point pace.

Now that we’re a bit past the halfway point of the 2022 National Football League (NFL) regular season, the players’ statistics have been somewhat cemented. Things in the NFL change rapidly from game to game, but the sample size of touches has reached a point where the consistent players are on top and likely will continue to dominate. It’s a very close year in pretty much every position, and records for overall teams have been far from what was expected since game one.

In October, I created a list of NBA contenders. Now that the NBA season is in full swing, I will look back on my predictions to see where I was correct and where I was wrong.

If you’re a fan of the Washington Commanders, you probably hate Dan Snyder. If you are a human with a proclivity for human decency, chances are you too will hate the Commanders’ owner after reading this article.
