Hello new Jays, and welcome to the Nest!
We are so excited to have you at Hopkins. Here at The News-Letter, we thought we’d gather a few of our favorite pieces of advice to help kickstart your journey. Compiled within these pages are some things we wish we’d known freshman year, memories that we hold dear and words of encouragement.
Over the next four years, you are going to grow so much, make lifelong memories and achieve things you never could have imagined. You will take classes you’ll love and others that make you dread waking up in the morning. You’ll join clubs and meet your new best friends. Some nights, you’ll crave home-cooked meal more than anything else, but on others, you’ll be savoring your favorite dish at your go-to restaurant in Baltimore. As much as college life will take some getting used to, you'll find your people. You'll make your nest.
ll of this will come. You’re just at the start of your journey, so if you feel a little lost right now, that’s okay — you’ll figure it out! And, before you know it, you’ll have made your mark on this school and its people, just like all Blue Jays before you.
Transitioning to college is a big change, and we’ve tried to assemble some words to accompany you along every step of the way. We can’t wait for you to get to know Hopkins and for Hopkins to get to know you. So much awaits.
With care,
Yana Mulani and Kaitlin Tan
