This week, head to the Big Baltimore Kite Fest at Patterson Park.

The April breeze is softening, and Baltimore weekends are waking up with new energy. From an R&B queen’s comeback tour to a cat-themed celebration, this weekend is all about contrasts: a perfect reflection of the city’s vibrant spirit. Whether you're in the mood to dance, unwind in the sun or just soak in some good vibes, there’s something here to match your rhythm.

Friday

Mary J. Blige: The For My Fans Tour with NE-YO & Mario, CFG Bank Arena, April 4, 7 p.m.
Grammy Award-winning R&B icon Mary J. Blige is taking the stage alongside NE-YO and Mario for a soulful night of smooth vocals and celebration. This stop on her “For My Fans” tour promises heartfelt performances, nostalgic hits and a whole lot of gratitude. A must-see for fans of R&B and live music. Tickets range from $76 to $416.

Saturday

KittyCon 2025, Guilford Hall Brewery, 12–4 p.m.

Feline fanatics, this one’s for you! KittyCon is Baltimore’s first-ever cat-themed convention, hosted by the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter. Expect meow-gical vibes with cat-themed merch, cosplay, local vendors and more. Whether you’re a cat parent or just cat-curious, it’s a purr-fect way to spend your Saturday. Adult tickets are $20, and tickets for children are $10.

The BIG Baltimore Kite Fest 2025, Patterson Park, 12–4 p.m.

Watch the skies come alive at Patterson Park during this colorful and high-flying spring tradition. The BIG Baltimore Kite Fest is back with DIY kite-making, performances and community celebration. Enjoy a warm, breezy day in one of Baltimore’s most iconic parks. It’s a family-friendly event where joy takes flight, literally.

Costco Adoption Event, 9919 Pulaski Hwy, 12–3 p.m.

Looking for a little companion? They might just be waiting for you at Costco this Saturday! The Hero Rescue is bringing puppies with all kinds of personalities: playful, cuddly and sweet. As a dog owner myself, I can say they’ve helped me stay active, healthy and filled with energy and comfort. If you need a healing buddy too, be sure to drop by — and hey, you can grab some dog food and a cozy pet bed while you’re there!

Sunday

Shucked, Hippodrome Theatre, 1 p.m.

Need a laugh and some catchy tunes? Shucked might be just what you need, besides your weekly dose of Saturday Night Live. This Tony Award-winning musical tells the quirky tale of a woman trying to save her town’s corn from mysterious trouble. Think The Wizard of Oz but with corn and comedy. Themes of friendship, courage and laughter never get old, especially when they rhyme!
