This week, take a cooking class at the Baltimore Chef Shop, located in Hamden. 

Baltimore's serving up an eclectic mix of festivities that showcase the city's diverse cultural landscape. From the traditional sounds of Irish banjos to the vibrant movements of African dance, here's your curated guide to the can't-miss events happening around town!

Friday

Third Annual Irish Tenor Banjo Summit, Creative Alliance, Nov. 15–17

Immerse yourself in Irish musical tradition at this three-day festival featuring workshops, performances and community dancing at Creative Alliance. Whether you're interested in learning banjo or joining in the ceili dancing, the summit offers flexible options to create your perfect weekend of Irish culture. Tickets range from $20 — for a general admission pass for Saturday — to $120 — for a full weekend ticket.

Saturday

NERDpocalypose: Fall Edition, Power Plant Live!, 3–9 p.m.

NERDpocalypse returns to transform Power Plant Live! into a multi-fandom paradise featuring themed bars, cosplay contests and gaming. From the Good versus Evil Beer Olympics to the all-new Zelda rave, this 21-and-over event invites you to party with Baltimore's most passionate fan community. Entry is $18.91. 

Baltimore American Indian Pow Wow, Maryland State Fairgrounds, 12–7 p.m.

Don't miss the Baltimore American Indian Center's 48th Annual Pow Wow. Visitors can enjoy performances by host drums Warpaint and Zotigh Singers, browse Native vendor offerings and enjoy authentic Native cuisine. Grand entry starts at noon and 4 p.m.Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children aged four to 12 years.

Sunday

Hands-on cooking classes, Baltimore Chef Shop, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Learn to cook like a pro at the Baltimore Chef Shop with your choice of three distinctive classes: French crepe-making, handmade butternut squash ravioli or essential fish preparation techniques! Each three-hour class provides intimate instruction and concludes with a shared meal of your culinary creations. Prices range from $81 to $87. 

Sankofa Dance Theater: 30 Years of Music Movement and Folkways, The Baltimore Museum of Art, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Experience the legacy of West African dance and music as Sankofa Dance Theater reunites at the Baltimore Museum of Art. This event features morning workshops in African drumming and dance followed by an afternoon performance. This rare reunion celebrates 30 years of cultural legacy with an intergenerational ensemble performing together for the first time since 2010. Morning workshops are free with required registration; performance tickets are $28.52.
