The Student Government Association (SGA) convened on Tuesday, April 9 for the last meeting of the 111th SGA Senate.
President of the Senate Nasreen Naqvi thanked the senate for their hard work this year. Naqvi reminded them to turn in their transition documents by April 13. Transition documents will provide the incoming SGA members of the 112th Senate with advice for their roles from previous SGA members.
Chair of Programming Shalala Leny presented a summary of feedback for SGA. A few of the 62 points included more engaging events, access to grades before they are officially posted on SIS, better SEAM ticket management, tuition reduction for the closing of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library due to renovations, free printing and more dietary options on campus.
Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Senator Tim Huang answered questions on the second reading of the Programming Council Updates document. The update will allow for tabling sessions to be led by either a Committee or Class Council.
Vice President Jackson Morris said, "committees are going to be a great way of bringing people together.” Still, he was concerned about student interests in tabling events hosted by small, unknown committees rather than organizations widely recognized around campus. Huang addressed the concerns by recognizing that tabling events usually attract students interested in the event's subject, not in the organization in particular. The update passed unanimously.
SGA held a senior send-off for graduating members. Underclassmen members thanked graduating seniors and juniors for their accomplishments and mentorship in SGA.
The 112th SGA Senate will convene starting next Tuesday, April 16.
