Congrats on getting through your first full month of the semester! I’ve got some exciting events this weekend where you can find great food, drinks and dancing. There’s a little something for everyone as we head into warmer days.

Thursday

Streets of Baltimore Exhibition, Baltimore Spirits Company (5 — 10 p.m.)

Local artists Kathleen Kline and Greg McLemore will begin showcasing their art at the Baltimore Spirits Company (BSC) this weekend. BSC will also be serving its spring drinks menu. Even if you miss this event, BSC hosts weekly events with other local businesses and vendors. Details for the event can be found on Facebook

Friday

Happy Hour Vegan Restaurant Week Kickoff Event, Dodah's Kitchen (5 — 7 p.m.)

Dodah’s Kitchen is a vegan restaurant in Mid-Town Belvedere specializing in soul food and desserts inspired by Afro-vegan traditions. Dodah's will be hosting DJ Infinity Knives at its Vegan Restaurant Week happy hour while it serves food at a discounted rate. Check out the event on Facebook. You should also check out other spots during Vegan Restaurant Week!

Salsa Bachata Fridays at The Colonnade, SalsaNow (8 p.m. — 1:30 a.m.)

If you don’t have time to venture too far off campus this weekend but are still looking for a good time, this one’s for you! Every Friday night, SalsaNow hosts dance lessons at the Inn at The Colonnade, our resident campus hotel. The night begins with two 45-minute sessions depending on dance abilities, and at 9:30 p.m. the dance floor is open for the rest of the night. There is a $10 cover for entry, and food and drinks are available to order. Check out the event on Facebook.

Saturday

Iceage with guest Sloppy Jane, Ottobar (8 p.m. — 2 a.m.)

Ottobar brings another exciting musical guest to its venue this weekend as it hosts Iceage, a Danish punk rock band, who will be performing from its newest album. Masks and proof of vaccinations are required, and drinks will be available at the bar. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 on Saturday and can be bought on ETix.

Sunday

Taco Eating Contest, Papi's Tacos (7 p.m.)

This one’s for my fellow competitive people out there. Put your competitive eating skills to the test at Papi’s Tacos in Towson. If you are the first to finish six tacos and one alcoholic beverage, you can win free tacos from Papi’s for a month. How can you pass up any competition where the prize involves the words “free” and “for a month”? I think you know the answer. Register for the contest on Eventbrite or sign up at Papi’s.
