Maras wants you to check out the great shows and Valentine's Day pop-ups happening around the city this week.

Happy Valentine’s weekend! Whether you’ve got a date or plan to spend it with your pals, there are still plenty of great shopping spots and intriguing performances in Baltimore this weekend to keep you entertained.

All weekend

Witness Theater Intersession Show, Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Support your fellow students from Witness Theater as they put on their first show of the semester! All plays are written, directed and performed entirely by students, so you can count on a quality show every time. The showcase will include four short shows all for the student price of $4. You can buy tickets for Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Friday

Peabody Opera Theatre: La Scala di Seta, Baltimore Theatre Project (7:30 p.m.)

There are several terrific recitals and performances happening at Peabody this week and every week, but this week’s opera performance is especially cool. The Peabody Concert Orchestra is performing an Italian comedy about romance, gossip, marriages and more. Student tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. There will be four performances of this show (including one this Sunday), and the later performance dates can be found on Peabody’s website

Saturday

Mini Valentine’s Day Market, R. House (11 a.m. — 4 p.m.)

Take a quick detour off campus to shop from local vendors while eating delicious food from the R. House stalls. The vendors will be selling original artwork, handcrafted sterling silver jewelry, potted plants and handmade pottery. No RSVP is required, but you can find the location, times and vendors on the Facebook event.

ChocolateFest 2022, Union Collective (12 p.m. — 12 a.m.)

Have you ever heard of a greater name for a festival? Definitely not. ChocolateFest is hosting dessert, liquor and food vendors to satiate all your chocolate desires. The Charmery, a student favorite, will be in attendance with several variations on its chocolate ice creams. Baltimore Spirits Company and The Wine Collective have you covered with wine pairings and “choc-tails'' to complement the endless dessert options. No RSVP is required, but you can see a list of all the vendors under the Facebook event.

The Chocolate Pop-Up, Made In Baltimore (12 p.m. — 4 p.m.)

In case there weren’t enough events about chocolate happening this weekend, I have another one for you! This pop-up is being hosted by Made in Baltimore, an initiative to support local artists, on the 2700 block of Remington Avenue right near campus. Be sure to swing by and try some delicious chocolates and candies; you can find the event information on Facebook.
