Even though the school will be lifting the current restriction on all gatherings of any size this Thursday, we at The News-Letter ask that our readers be respectful of Baltimore and attend community events virtually this weekend. But being virtual doesn’t mean you can’t have fun — take a look!
Friday
Sci-Fi Fridays, Maryland Science Center (7 p.m. — 10 p.m.)
Join the Maryland Science Center for this week’s Sci-Fi Friday. Each Friday, the Center selects science fiction movies you can stream, suggests a science activity inspired by the films and a recipe for a themed cocktail on the event page. This week, stream Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and follow along on the event page for the science activity and cocktail. Free.
Saturday
Zumba For The Red Devils, Merritt Clubs (11 a.m. — 12 p.m.)
Join Merritt Clubs for virtual Zumba — dance along for exercise. All the proceeds will go to The Red Devils, which is a local organization that funds support services that improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families in the Baltimore area. $10.
African American Heritage Cooking Demo, Greater Baybrook Alliance (1 p.m. — 2 p.m.)
Greater Baybrook Alliance (GBA) is sponsoring an African American Heritage Cooking Demo. The food includes cornbread, savory smoke kale, sweet potato pie and Hoppin’ John (also known as Carolina peas and rice). The event is a partnership between Filbert Street Garden, the GBA and Holistic Wellness and Health. Free.
Sunday
Lonely (and Not-So-Lonely) Hearts Club, The Take-Out Get Down (12 p.m.)
Support local restaurants and celebrate Valentine’s Day at this virtual Baltimore comedy set and dance party. By ordering from a participating restaurant, you will receive an exclusive virtual takeout ticket to the soiree. Restaurants include Dylan’s Oyster Cellar, Land of Kush, Grano Pasta Bar and BRD. Check out the full list of restaurants on their Facebook page. Price depends on your meal.
