Alleged drugging reported at SigEp house

October 10, 2015

A security alert sent out Friday night by Campus Safety and Security reported an alleged drugging and possible sexual assault of an undergraduate student.

The student reported that he suspected he was given a date rape drug at the Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) fraternity house, located at 2900 Wyman Pkwy, and that a sexual assault may have occurred. The location of the possible sexual assault is unknown.

Vice Provost for Student Affairs Kevin G. Shollenberger sent an email to the student body Saturday afternoon to explain the University's response.

"The university is investigating the report. The use of a date rape drug and the occurrence of a sexual assault have not been confirmed," Shollenberger wrote. "While the investigation is underway, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity has been directed to not hold parties or other events at 2900 or 2902 Wyman Parkway."

The accused individuals are as yet unidentified by Security.
